Mondays No.1 / getting shit done when it’s grey

Well, the weather has been frightful these past few days. All I want to do is hunker down and stay in my jimjams, which is cute for a couple of days but not when things need to get done. So here’s how I keep it moving even when the bed is calling my name.

CHANGE

Yes, you’ll need to get out of them pjs. Get up, make wudu and wear something cosy. Just getting changed and making wudu feels like an official start to the day, especially for a work from home day for me. Whack on some face moisturiser and a fun lipstick for the extra mile and you’ll feel that much brighter to tackle the to-do list. And for a sprinkle of soul food, pray salatul duha (if you haven’t started the day too late that is!).

ATMOSPHERE

As someone who likes to pretend they live an aesthetic life, nothing beats creating the right environment. It’s as basic as making the bed, doing a little tidy and lighting a candle. If I’m really struggling to motivate myself, I’ll play some jammin tunes to make everything feel a little more fun.

REWARD

Finally, this is probably the main thing that helps me, but have something to look forward to, for after you’re done. Make time to indulge in something, like a kdrama, or a movie you’ve been looking forward to watching. It might feel like you don’t really deserve it, but the joy of life is in celebrating the every day, so pick an extra luscious dessert for later and et viola, you’re ready to take on anything.

What are your go-to tips for getting things done?

That’s all for now!
